Harmon prevents Customs officials from seizing unregistered SUV imported by BK in duty free scam

An attempt to seize an unregistered Toyota Land Cruiser SUV which bore false number plates by Customs ranks was thwarted yesterday after Minister of State Joseph Harmon intervened.

A source close to the incident revealed that the vehicle in question is owned by businessman, Brian BK Tiwari. Tiwari is said to have provided significant funding towards the APNU+AFC 2015 elections campaign. He was appointed an advisor to Harmon and also accompanied him on many of his overseas trips.

Yesterday's incident came about after alert customs ranks noticed that while the sports utility vehicle (SUV) was a high-end and a more recent model; the number plates were of the PJJ series, issued about a decade ago. As a result of this it was stopped and the driver reportedly disclosed that the vehicle belonged to Tiwari.

Several calls were made by the driver and while the vehicle was about to be taken into custody the ranks received a call from a senior official of the GRA who told them to let the vehicle go. This was after Harmon had contacted the official.

A reliable source informed this publication that the vehicle is one of many which have been imported duty free by Tiwari with Harmon's approval. The contractor also imported high end luxury vehicles such as a Rolls Royce Phamtom, Lamborghini and several others without paying the necessary duties and all with Harmon's permission. This, according to the source, has caused the state to lose more than $175M in taxes. 

Minister of Social Protection Amna Ally 

In return the contractor, who also the beneficiary of a billion dollar settlement from the APNU+AFC government under controversial circumstances, bought SUVs for Harmon and Minister of Social Protection Amna Ally.

An observer who spoke under the condition of anonymity said this matter should be the subject of an investigation by the Special Organised Crime Unit(SOCU).

PNC Leader David Granger’s terror-gang/bodyguards were used to intimidate anti-Granger supporters at the PNC Congress which ended on a sour note with serious voter irregularities, a shooting incident, threats and assaults to party members.

Party Executive Amna Ally was one of the lead instigators, cheering on the gunmen to shoot them, while other party members launched an attack against her tirade. Amna is the main culprit behind the Vanessa Kissoon/Oscar Clarke brawl which caused further escalated the internal conflicts among the various factions of that party.

Large sections of the PNC membership are unhappy with Granger’s lack luster leadership and his challenger Aubrey Norton has a significant following as he seeks to have Granger remove even though he withdrew from the leadership contest for the moment.

The police is concerned about the unsavoury characters who were at the PNC Congress and there has been several reports of persons brandishing illegal weapons in the precinct of Congress Place.  

The PNC has a long history of criminality and its connection to the criminal underworld is said to be responsible for the escalation of gun crimes and robberies from which it benefits financial.

The opposition again has revived its destabilization plans using its criminal gangs to terrorize and disrupt peace and order.

A gang of former army top brass under the directorship of Edward Collings are recruiting youngsters to commit armed robberies and create a situation of fright and fear in the society.

David Granger’s hand in this is to command the direction of this plan.

If you recall, the opposition under the Hoyte’s leadership of PNC referred to the criminal gang as 'freedom fighters' and the PNC draped the coffin of notorious criminal Blackie London with the golden arrowhead. To this day that party continues to defend the interest of criminals whilst ignoring the plight of their victims.

The crime situation today resembles the plan unleashed by the PNC in early 2000’s and no doubt David Granger is one of the few players in this plan.

The PNC has a history of criminality and many of those who spearheaded the killings of innocent persons and destruction of national infrastructure are still high up in the leadership of that party.

TREVOR ROSE’S DEATH LINKED TO FALL-OUT WITH JOSEPH HARMON OVER STOLEN GOLD

 Speculation is rife that the recent execution style killing of local designer Trevor Rose may be linked to his dealings in a gold smuggling ring spearheaded by APNU member of parliament Joseph Harmon.

A source in the local mining industry told a Liveinguyana operative that Harmon and several others for some time now have been involved in the smuggling  of gold illegally out of Guyana using several routes including the Suriname backtrack. It is said that Rose became involved and was said to have lost a significant amount of the precious mineral during what he claimed was a break-in at his home.  Harmon and the others did not buy into his story and commenced surveillance activities on Rose. Rose was discovered to be conducting very large financial transactions and also deposited a hefty sum of money into his bank account. An assassin was then hired to 'finish him' off after Harmon and the others concluded that he had robbed them. 

Police are said to be tracking all possible leads to get Rose’s executioner but with Harmon being a lawyer with connections to criminal underworld relatives of Rose are not optimistic about justice in this matter and have chosen to remain silent out of fear. It was for this reason Rose’s mother had reportedly said that she will not be perusing the matter whilst saying that God in control.

Granger v/s Greenidge: APNU infighting intensifies

There is increasing speculation about the cut and trust and infighting within the APNU camp among several factions. Both APNU/PNC leader David Granger  and Carl Greenidge seem to be going at each other and the hostility existing seems more pronounced and glaring as days go by.

There is a view by some thatGreenidge seems to want to do whatever he wants and whilst remaining completely disrespectful to Granger who seems incapable of disciplining him.

The Greenidge/ Granger feud is highlighting the contradictions of that party and the insincerity with which it addresses national issues.

Both of these gentlemen are power thirsty, they want to be in control and the freakism in their regard is taking them over.

Granger, a new kid on the block missed the mark when it comes to demonstrating political leadership while Greenidge on the other hand has one of the most dismal records in terms of his performances as previous Finance Minister during which he ran Guyana into bankruptcy.

Ramjattan’s best friend Lloyd Singh supplied expired drugs to hospital

(Eyewitness)Khemraj Ramjattan is a lawyer by profession. When he’s wearing his other hat as a politician, he should remember this fact. When he makes utterances, he does so with such alarming frequency, he brings the entire legal fraternity into disrepute. We know he has no pride, but one wonders if he has no shame also.

Using the excuse of the expired drugs found by a parliamentary committee – which included Indra Chandrapal of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) – Ramjattan launched an attack on the Ministry of Health that demonstrated an inexcusable lack of knowledge about the supply of drugs to hospitals.

So what’s his solution to the problem of expired drugs? “We would like to see quality drugs placed on the shelf with long shelf lives,” he intoned. We know you, dear reader, must have exclaimed, “What kind of nonsense is this?” But we kid you not. This is exactly what this Ramjattan said. I mean…surely Ramjattan can’t actually believe that manufacturers of pharmaceuticals package some drugs with “long shelf lives” and others with “short shelf lives”?

If he does then he ought to be committed to that institution near the Canje Bridge. All drugs have their particular period in which they degrade to a point where they lose their efficacy. Because we’re not dealing with rum, with which Ramjattan may have greater familiarity, we have to inform him that you don’t age pharmaceuticals so that they have “long shelf lives”. Each chemical spontaneously decomposes based on its chemical stability and the ambient conditions.

Ramjattan couldn’t resist also making a crack about NEW GPC INC and “sole sourcing” even though the auditor general’s report explained the difference between that concept, pre-qualified bidders, and providing proprietary (patented) formulations. He, however, disingenuously refused to reveal that the actual expired and possibly overstocked drugs found at the hospital were all supplied by his friend and supporter – who last year billed the Ministry of Health for a cool $512 million.

NOTE: The supporter and friend in question is Lloyd Singh. Singh is a businessman of questionable character and owner of IPA Pharmaceuticals. He bankrolls the AFC and is very close to its leader Khemraj Ramjattan. He  recently feted Ramjattan and his wife at and city restaurant and also owns a rumshop in Ogle at which himself and fellow AFC member Sasenarine Singh were involved in a fist fight a while back.

SURUJBALLY WORKING WITH THE PNC

Chairman of GECOM, Steve Surujbally has now joined the long list of PNC agents working against the democratically elected PPP/C government. Surujbally traded his soul to the PNC and David Granger in exchange for a prolonged stay at GECOM and his continued $3M dollars per month wage package. In exchange he sacrificed Chief Elections Officer Gocool Boodhoo who the PNC accuse of working against their interests. Surujbally will now take obstructions from Congress Place and Granger's office in Hadfield Street and his deputy will be PNC mole Calvin Benn. Benn is noted for his strong anti-PPP sentiments while Surujbally was nominated to the post of chairman by Desmond Hoyte.

HENRICO DI BANDIT OWES MILLIONS IN TAXES

Well we recently learnt that Miss Goody-two-shoes, Hen-rico Woolford owes the state millions of dollars in back taxes. It turns out that even as Henrico and U.S informant, Glen Lall wage their radio license war against the state and ruling PPP/C administration the former is in arrears of millions in taxes owed by his production company which was registered more than a decade ago. Since registering the company Henrico has failed to remit any of its earning to the GRA as stipulated by law. AFC chairman and Bramma's drug buddy, Nigel Hughes was found guilty of the same practice last year and exposed by the GRA head. 

AFC Blackmailing contractors

The AFC has been exposed. We are now hearing that Nigel Hughes has been appointed  legal representative of Sithe Global, the company awarded the contract to build the Amalia Falls which is party opposes. It now seems that the AFC is opposing large developmental contracts in order to get contractors to employ its personnel who are mostly Lawyers. Hughes' wife Cathy was exposed when it was revealed that she was an employee of Fip Motilall whom her party was waging a cruel campaign against at the time he was awarded the contract to construct the access road to Amalia Falls. Moses Nagmootoo was also exposed as another of the AFC's two-faced scamps when he sat in parliament and else joining his colleagues as they leveled all sorts of scandalous allegation against NICIL. All this was being doing despite the fact that Nagamootoo was receiving millions of dollars worth of work for services provided to the very entity.

City Hall’s effectiveness being hampered by Hamilton Green’s incompetence

Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green has been associated with dismal failure all his life. Could you imagine the Mayor and City Council earned over $3 billion in 2012 from the collection of rates and taxes, yet little has been done in terms of rehabilitation and upkeep of the city which continues to deteriorate under Green’s watch.   

Green is an executive member of the David Granger-lead People’s National Congress (PNC)/A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) which remains silent about the growing mismanagement and corruption at city hall.

Look around, gosh!.....you will see heaps of overflowing garbage, clogged drains, huge potholes and fallen trees in the city.

Over eighty percent (80%) of Georgetown residents had paid their rates and taxes, in 2012, including the central government to the tune of $150 million.

Minister of Local Government, Ganga Persaud said Green has created a human bureaucracy intended to serve some wider political agenda. The PNC was famous for keeping a large public service which consisted of party supporters while in charge of the country's affairs.

Green continues to play politics with the welfare of the City, compounded with his high-class arrogance and incompetence.
