Click here and here to view a letter sent by Communities Minister Ronald Bulkan to attorney-at-law Timothy Jonas, the latter being the legal representative of the Bank of Guyana. The APNU+AFC government official is part owner of Precision Woodworking Limited and is currently embroiled in a battle with a local bank over $417 million loan the company took.
Ever since Precision Woodworking Limited was placed into receivership owing to its default on the loan, Bulkan has been using his position as a member of the government to wage a war against the local bank.
In January of 2016 the local bank threatened
legal action against Kaieteur News after the newspaper published two articles.
In one of the articles it was revealed that State Asset Recovery Unit (SARU)
was directed by Bulkan to investigate the bank after he claimed it was engaged
in money laundering.
The bank strongly denied the allegations
and Kaieteur News was forced to withdraw the stories.
The Bank of Guyana also refuted the
allegations of money laundering, but Bulkan’s efforts did not stop there.
The
latest expose shows that he is determined to use all means available to him in
his vendetta against the local financial institution which according to the
courts, has acted justly in its actions against his now defunct company.
