GLEN LALL’S COLD-BLOODED MURDER OF AFRO-GUYANESE MC DOOM RESIDENT KENNY FRANCE

The vigilante killing of Mc Doom resident Kenny France by Kaieteur News owner Glen Lall is once again under the spotlight.

According to this Stabroek News report on the incident, Lall was traveling in a car on the East Bank Public Road with three of his friends when he spotted France’s stepson Oclive Marshall, whom he accused of attempting to break into his home sometime earlier. It was during his confrontation with Marshall that Lall shot France in the chest. France died on the way to the hospital.

In a statement given to the police, the Kaieteur News owner who operated a stall at Stabroek Market and was involved in back-tracking (illegal immigration) back then, claimed that he was besieged by a mob during his attempt to arrest Marshall. Lall claimed that there was a scuffle between himself, and France, and the gun accidentally went off hitting the man in the process.

However, Lall’s version of the event was debunked by several eyewitnesses who all said that France was murdered in cold blood. They told Stabroek News that France was some two feet away from Lall when he was shot in cold blood.

Lall used his money to bribe witnesses and despite promises to the contrary by the then Police Commissioner Laurie Lewis, the matter was swept under the rug.

People's National Congress Reform (PNC/R) leader Aubrey Norton has instructed that there be no observers at that party’s Congress scheduled for June 28th to 30th.

This was made public by PNC/R North American Region (NAR) member Egland Gomes in a post on his Facebook page. Gomes said that Norton, whom he referred to as a dictator, ordered General Secretary Dawn Hastings-Williams to exclude observers from the congress.

The inclusion of observers at Congress has been a longstanding practice that sees party members who have not met the membership requirement being allowed to attend as observers.
“He has handpicked several interim management committees in the regions to control the party membership and delegates,” Gomes wrote.
He also chastised Norton over his unilateral appointment of the committee that will manage the election at Congress.
Norton handpicked Vincent Alexander, a close party colleague of his, to oversee the election that will see him go up against Roysdale Forde and Amanza Walton Desir for the party leader position

On one such occasion, during the chairmanship of Roysdale Forde, an emissary was sent to the hotel owner and a US$3M bribe was demanded in exchange for the approval of the license. The hotel owner refused, and his application was denied.
He later approached the court and was successful. However, it was only after the change in government in 2020 that his application was processed, and the license granted.

Ten years on and relatives of man allegedly murdered by Mark Benschop yet to receive justice

Joel Fraser

Almost ten years has passed since popular local actor Joel Fraser was found dead with his throat slit at the Liliendaal seawall and relatives are still to get justice. Fraser was discovered on November 25th in 2009  and his relatives are adamant that Mark Benschop had something to do with his death. Speaking to members of the media in 2010 an aunt related that he had complained of receiving several threats on his life from Benschop. When asked if he had contacted law enforcement authorities she replied in the negative.

At the time the 39 year old resident of  Lot 27 Laing Avenue, was wearing only his underpants and a t-shirt. Valuables, which he had had in his possession, including a laptop computer and production material for the premiere of the Mori J’von Comedy Jam, were missing.

The killing, sent shock waves through the theatrical community that he had been a member of for many years and came hours before what would've been his last production was set to open at the National Cultural Centre.

It was also reported then that Fraser was having a relationship with Benschop's ex-wife up until his death. Mrs. Benschop told reporters that Fraser was her Production Manager and they were in the height of preparing for a performance in Berbice some time in December of that year.

Bulkan issues threatening letter to Bank of Guyana lawyer as his pursuit of vendetta against local bank continues

Click here and here to view a letter sent by Communities Minister Ronald Bulkan to attorney-at-law Timothy Jonas, the latter being the legal representative of the Bank of Guyana. The APNU+AFC government official is part owner of Precision Woodworking Limited and is currently embroiled in a battle with a local bank over $417 million loan the company took.
Ever since Precision Woodworking Limited was placed into receivership owing to its default on the loan, Bulkan has been using his position as a member of the government to wage a war against the local bank.

In January of 2016 the local bank threatened legal action against Kaieteur News after the newspaper published two articles. In one of the articles it was revealed that State Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) was directed by Bulkan to investigate the bank after he claimed it was engaged in money laundering.
The bank strongly denied the allegations and Kaieteur News was forced to withdraw the stories.

The Bank of Guyana also refuted the allegations of money laundering, but Bulkan’s efforts did not stop there.

The latest expose shows that he is determined to use all means available to him in his vendetta against the local financial institution which according to the courts, has acted justly in its actions against his now defunct company.
