I guess things are not as bad as some may want us to believe in Guyana! Particularly in the Opposition circles! The vehicle in the picture above is a recently acquired possession of PNC/R M.P Deborah Backer and her husband Stephen Backer, who presided over the Globe Trust collapse! I know for sure there was no marginalization in the purchase of this and a 2006 RAV 4 by Backer and her husband! Our checks at Prado Ville have revealed that Backer and her husband have out-done all her fellow compatriots on the political scene as this recent purchase has been a first in Guyana by a politician.
Deborah's 2006 Supercharged model retails for $70,250. A $715 destination and delivery charge was also included along with a four year/50,000 mile warranty with complimentary scheduled service . It uses a Jaguar-derived 4.2-litre supercharged 287 kW(390 bhp SAE) V8 engine with 550 Nm (410 lb ft) of torque, mated to a ZF six-speed automatic gearbox.
Experts have also revealed to us that this is a Gas guzzler. Even though being a M.P. guarantees her access to a duty free letter fuel costs should be substantial. By the way, I hope she's not planning to cross the Berbice Bridge soon as it might result in Benschop-like behaviour!
