City Mayor on six country European tour even as cash-strapped council's woes mount

Mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green and his family are on a six country visit to Europe at the expense of City Hall. This comes even as that entity is being plagued by financial and others woes.
A source told Liveinguyana that the Mayor's trip is expected to cost the City US$15,875.

Currently there is uncertainty as to whether city hall will be in a position to pay its employees their January salary and whether or not it will be able to meet its financial obligations to garbage contractors. The government from time to time has had to bail out the cash strapped council after contractors withheld their services over non-payment.
