The Government's continued investment in the Education Sector proving fruitful.

Guyana topped the entire Caribbean in the CSEC Exams last year. Our students did better than any other Caribbean country. Over 30% of our students got five subjects with grades 1-3. In Barbados the comparable figure is 13%. In Jamaica it is 17%. 400 of our students passed ten subjects at one sitting. We got the best overall result – 14 grade ones. We got the prize for the best science student. We got the prize for the best business student. No other Caribbean country comes close to that.

Comparatively speaking Trinidad spends 5 percent of its GDP in the education sector, with each child apportioned US$1,000 per annum, while Guyana spends close to US$300. But Guyana is doing more than most of these countries in line with its GDP. The Guyana Government has expended wisely in the education sector.

  2. Indeed many enhancements have taken place in the educational sector, and it is indeed evident because we have the results to show of these accomplishments. Our students have done exceedingly well over the years when it came to this CSEC exam and should be supported further, because they are the future of our country which should never fade...

  4. With the recent budget and the allocation that has been funded to the education sector a lot more will be achieved from our students, and they should be fully supported all the way.
