Granger's bodyguard a thief, kicked out of the GDF after stealing credit cards in London

Stabroek News July 23 2008: Three men, who allegedly attempted to obtain $1.7 million worth of cement by virtue of a forged instrument, were each placed on varying amounts of bail when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Dorian Massay, Sheldon Cumberbatch and Troy Murphy were jointly charged with endeavouring to obtain on a forged instrument and conspiracy to commit a felony, that is forgery. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Further, Massay was charged with uttering a forged document and he again pleaded not guilty when it was read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

It is alleged that between June 4 and July 18 the trio, with intent to defraud, endeavoured to obtain from Muneshwar Persaud 30 slings of cement worth $1.7 million, upon or by virtue of a forged document - one Republic Bank cheque purporting to show that it was issued by Ronaldo Alphonso. Further, between the stated dates the men allegedly, with intent to defraud, forged a document – that is one Republic Bank cheque. It is also alleged that on July 18 Massay, with intent to defraud, uttered to Muneshwar Persaud a forged Republic Bank cheque purporting to show that the same was issued by Alphonso.

With regard to the endeavoring and conspiracy charges, the three men were each placed on $85,000 bail on each charge.

The endeavouring matter continues on August 7 at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court while the conspiracy matter was transferred to Court Two for September 8. Massay was placed on $85,000 bail for the charge of uttering a forged document and he will appear at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on August 7.

Massay is on a total of $255,000 bail while the other two accused are each on $170,000 bail.

Liveinguyana Note: Dorian Massey who writes as "Sandhurst First" on the Stabroek News blog on many occasions advocated and even threatened to kill President Donald Ramotar. Massey was dishonorably discharged from the GDF after he stole several credit cards while on overseas training in London. Himself along with Oliver Hinckson and several others provided training and technical support to the infamous Fineman gang. He now functions as one of the bodyguards of APNU leader David Granger.
