Woman badly beaten, accused of being spy at Congress Place

A 56 year old woman from West Ruimveldt was badly beaten on Tuesday last at Congress Place, headquarters of the PNC after she was accused of being a spy sent by the PPP.
The woman was part of a group of persons mobilized by APNU activists and was making a cell phone call when she was accused of providing the police with information that led to the detention of several buses transporting protestors from Linden. She was then accosted by a hostile group and taken to an area on the second floor of Congress Place where she was interrogated, given a sound thrashing and then bungled into a car.

The woman has since gone into hiding out of fear for her life after being threatened. An attempt was also made to torch her home.
