Shot teen was already in court on armed robbery charges

Osafo Johnson

Attorney at law Adrian Thompson yesterday confirmed that his client, Osafo Johnson, had been released on $60,000 station bail, pending the outcome of the investigation. Johnson, 17, of 707 East Ruimveldt, was shot whilst fleeing along with members of the infamous 'Cobra' gang.
Police Commissioner Henry Greene stated that the teen had opened fire on the police and was fleeing from them when he was shot.
Thompson yesterday told media operatives that Johnson was released from the Brickdam Police Station, some time on Sunday.
One relative who spoke to the media yesterday said that Johnson has been taken to a private medical institution. On Friday last, the police promptly arrested Johnson minutes after doctors at the Georgetown Public Hospital deemed him fit enough for discharge.
Relatives, up to Saturday, were still very adamant that Johnson had no previous criminal matters.
However, media reports indicate that Johnson was recently charged with two counts of robbery under arms. The matter is currently being heard before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.
