Three Guyanese and one Venezuelan were today (Monday) arraigned for allegedly trafficking in almost 150 kilogrammes of cocaine and were refused bail, despite pleas for special circumstances.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Priya Beharry were Venezuelan- Luis Alberto Garcia, Clinton Collier, Deonarine Singh and Randolph Singh. A fifth accused-Terry James- was not arraigned because he is hospitalized.
They pleaded innocent to being in possession of 149 kilogrammes, 638 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
After hearing submissions by the prosecution and lawyers; the magistrate refused bail, saying there was no evidence of special circumstance. The quartet were remanded to jail until June 20.
