Minister Robeson Benn and members of the Cemetery Restoration Committee visited parts of Le Repentir on Wednesday last to make an assessment of what needed to be done in terms of its rehabilitation. As a result of this visit Government announced that it will spend $76M to restore the Cemetery to some form of semblance. However, this move did not go down well with the Stabroek News as its Sunday Editorial described this act as a vote getting exercise by the ruling administration.
Stabroek News is misguided as it is the PNC which has a history of resorting to the 'dead' in order to 'obtain votes'. At several elections held whilst the PNC was in government many of the names on the voters' list were non-existent and included in it also were hundreds of under-aged and deceased persons.

Over the years the cemetery has being a eye sore to the public eyes and now the govt to willing to restore to a standard state SN doing it opposition work claiming its buying votes. Its a fact that their opposition that they are working for are the ones which bring the dead back to help them get votes.
