Sheila Holder to step down as AFC Prime Ministerial candidate

-her husband's company set to benefit from government's liberalization of telecoms sector

Alliance For Change's (AFC) prime ministerial candidate, Sheila Holder, 65, may very well bow out of the political race, with concerns about her health being given as the primary reason. However, we have learnt that Holder's decision is based on the fact a company owned by her husband is among 4 such companies that are set to benefit from the liberalization of the Telecoms sector by President Jagdeo. Holder is preparing to take up a senior position in the company and is no doubt trying to avoid criticizing or as they say in local terms 'biting the hands that feeds' her.

Of recent Holder has been conspicuously absent from Party activities, and the few she did attend, one could not help but notice her unusually brief presentations. Inside sources have told us that Party executives are already talking about a possible replacement for Holder as the Prime Ministerial Candidate.

Party Leader, Raphael Trotman used a similar excuse as his reason for declining selection as prime ministerial candidate under running mate, Khemraj Ramjattan, who was selected Presidential Candidate for the 2011 elections.
Trotman and Ramjattan have been in a leadership tussle ever since the Party’s top-brass reneged on a rotation agreement which would have seen Ramjattan take over the AFC’s helm as leader.
Sources within the Party say Trotman’s faction kept insisting that Ramjattan was unsuitable to lead the AFC, while Ramjattan’s accused the Party’s prime movers of using alienation tactics. The AFC has been badly hurt by the infighting, and has not recovered since.
Businessman, Peter Ramsaroop, who resigned as AFC’s Chief Executive Officer and withdrew his membership of the party, publicly expressed his displeasure at Ramjattan’s leadership also.

  1. Hmmmm....How everyone stepping down in AFC saying that they concern about their health,is it a fact that Ramjattan is force these people to step so that his crony friends could get position in the party or they are now realize the incompetence of Ramjattan.By election it might be Ramjattan alone in the AFC.LOL
