Beware: Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing
The People’s Progressive Party has had to fight off many who confronted it in the past or during our sixty year history. We fought the colonial power and we have had to fight local reaction during the colonial period and the anti-dictatorial struggles.
However, in recent times we are seeing the enemies of the Party adopting new strategies in an effort to weaken and destroy the PPP. The new tactics seem to be the adoption of a line to pretend to be a friend of the Party, while trying to sow discord and division in its ranks.
The most recent attack is the full page open appeal that appeared in the Kaieteur New on January 1, 2010. This advertisement by persons calling themselves friends of the PPP is a dangerous piece of mischief designed to sow disquiet and division in our ranks.
It is of interest that this piece of wickedness only appeared in the “Kaieteur News,” signed by persons that are unknown to the PPP. They are clearly fictitious.
The wolves in sheep’s clothing have chosen the 60th anniversary to make this vicious but clever attack on the Party.
Party members and supporters must be alert to the new tactics of the PPP haters. They cannot defeat us in debates because our programme are widely supported by the Guyanese people. They cannot match our record of achievements. Under the PPP administration between 1957-1964,
From 1992 to the present, we have been rebuilding and developing our country once again. Our achievements are really monumental.
Enemies of the PPP are trying to reverse this trend. However, they have no arguments and the Guyanese people have seen through their lies, half-truths and distortions.
They have had to change tactics and adopt the ‘Trojan Horse’ tactics. They are pretending to be concerned about the party when their whole aim is to attack us, to create discord.
They must not succeed. We must guard the unity of our Party like the ‘apple of our eyes.’
