Jagdeo and Ahmadinejad call for expansion and consolidation of ties between Guyana and Iran

Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the avarice of bullying powers is the root cause of conflicts in the Middle East region.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with his Guyanese counterpart President Bharrat Jagdeo in Tehran.

World nations are in dire need of a just world order, he said.

The two presidents called for making use of each other's capabilities to help broaden mutual relations.

Selfishness and avarice of big powers have caused hatred and animosity in the world, said the Iranian president adding that if world affairs be based on justice, the peace and friendship will prevail over the international community.

"The big powers are aiming to dominate resources of the region through escalation of war and conflicts."

President Ahmadinejad said that they commit crimes and atrocities under the guise of defending human rights and campaign against terrorism.

"The world is now on the verge of big change and it is the responsibility of world people to get ready to establish new world order based on friendship and brotherhood," he said.

Given the current level of economic, cultural and political cooperation between Iran and Guyana, the Iranian president expressed the hope to witness expansion of relations and cooperation in various fields with reliance upon existing potentials of both sides.

The Guyanese president, for his part, called for expansion and consolidation of ties between the two countries and said the two countries have widescale potentials to bolster economic and commercial cooperation.

"It is vital for the world nations to thwart propaganda campaign of western powers through organized media activities and under umbrella of human rights," President Jagdeo said.

  1. Western governments and the powerful media that they possess derive much pleasure in associating terrorism with Islam. In the fight against terrorism in the world currently, it is Muslims interests, lives, and property which are being targeted and destroyed. However as was mentioned in the opening statements, mentioning that many religions have fallen victim to violent interpretations and this has been the case with Islam in addition what the extremist claim to do in the name of Islam is not Islamic. The recent shooting in Virgina did not led to the perpetrator being labeled a terrorist but a gun man though he terrorized many.
