CANU unearths 25 kg cocaine destined for Suriname

- two in custody

Ranks of the Customs Anti- Narcotics Unit, conducting an intelligence- led operation in Corriverton, Corentyne, Berbice on Friday night, busted two persons who were in possession of 25kg cocaine.

CANU officials confirmed that two persons have been arrested, and the cocaine intercepted was reportedly destined for neighbouring Suriname.

Guyana Times was reliably informed that the drug bust occurred at a hotel in Corriverton where the two persons were staying at the time.

This is the latest of at least five drug busts to have occurred in three regional countries for this year.

  1. The CANU ranks have made a massive improvement in there fight against the drugs smugglers and manage to clamp down on many drugs dealers in the country.
