The Tuschen market tarmac, East Bank Essequibo was the venue where a large gathering of residents from the area and further afield converged for a meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo at the culmination of a meaningful Cabinet Outreach to Region Three today.
President Jagdeo joined his Cabinet colleagues later in the afternoon telling the residents that the huge progress which Guyana has been making over the years cannot be denied.
The Head of State was introduced by Presidential Advisor on Governance Gail Teixeira as a person who loves being among people and who has invigorated his Cabinet to reach out to the grassroots in society.
President Jagdeo also told the gathering that about 60 roads in Region Three are earmarked for repairs by the end of the year among other plans too numerous to mention.

The residents applauded loudly when the President announced that a contract had already been awarded for a road into Tuschen and other plans for improvement in drainage systems in the area.
The residents were assured by President Jagdeo that all concerns raised at today’s outreach will be documented, presented in a report to him and interventions will be examined and will be brought to the attention of residents in the region on a follow up visit by a government representative.
The sum of $3.7B is being spent in Region Three, this year, most of which will go towards drainage and irrigation, roads, construction of an athletic track and a technical vocational institute.
He said his Government has never grown distant from the grassroots in society like others around the world, but instead remains accessible and even handed in allocating resources.

The President asked the residents to make a contractual vow to the Government to change Guyana for the better and recognise that although the road ahead will be difficult, they should not allow personal and political will to divert them from such a path.

  1. This is indeed a massive turn out, its amazing how many of our Guyanese support development, it over takes the opposition extensively and pushes Guyana towards prosperity.
