Currently in coalition talks with the PNC, AFC and other small parties, the WPA has proposed that its leader, Rupert Roopnarine, be the Presidential candidate of this grouping to contest the 2011 elections.
The joke is that the WPA by itself will not be able to muster enough votes to win a single seat in the upcoming elections. Most of the party's prominent members have abandoned it since Walter Rodney's death and the party has gradually been unable to find favour with the voting population since.
